British drug smuggler wanted in UK arrested in Torre Pacheco
The man was found with over 100,000 euros’ worth of ill-gotten gains and faces 15 years behind bars once extradited to the UK
Spanish police have arrested a man in Torre Pacheco (Murcia) who was wanted in the United Kingdom with a 15-year prison sentence.
The man, whose age is undisclosed, had an International Arrest and Extradition Warrant from the UK issued against him for his involvement in drug trafficking, being part of a criminal organisation and money laundering, for which he is due to face a sentence of more than 15 years in prison in the UK.
After the request for collaboration from the UK authorities, Spain’s National Police force and the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) deployed a search operation which resulted in the location of the perpetrator in a residential area of Torre Pacheco.
Police officers entered and searched a property in Torre Pacheco as well as two companies located in the municipality, and were able to seize various documents as well as items worth more than 115,000 euros from the proceeds of criminal acts.
After his arrest, the man was sent from Murcia to a court in Madrid, from there to be extradited to the UK to face justice.
