February 20 to March 1 Traditional stews and tapas route in Los Belones
One-pot dishes and a drink in the village close to La Manga Club for just 5 euros
Every winter a rather unusual tapas route is held in the bars and restaurants of Los Belones, the village on the shore of the Mar Menor just down the road from La Manga Club, and in the resort itself, with the dishes on offer consisting of traditional stews and one-pot meals of the type associated with the homely cooking of previous generations.
The “Guiso de la Abuela” (grandma’s stew) route of 2026 is being held from February 20 to March 1 at 13 local hostelries, including a acoule in La Manga Club itself, with members of the public invited to enjoy a bite to eat and a drink at the participating establishments for just 5 euros a time.
The establishments taking part are The Scotsman, Aquarium, Nacho Papi (all three in La Manga Club), Terraza del Sol, Belones Bar, Brasería Garnacha, El Tato, Ventga El Sabinar, Café Laroye, Restaurante Paras, La Oriental, Casa Rufino and Restaurante La Rusticana, and route maps can be seen here. Voting forms (available here) should be deposited in ballot boxes at El Sabinar, Pablo Guardiola and La Rustiacana, with prizes including dinner for two at the winning establishment and 100-euro vouchers.

The stylish Colina del Emperador is uniquely situated on the shores of the Mar Menor

Getting there
The closest airport is Corvera Airport, Murcia (RMU) or you may use Alicante Airport, Elche (ALC).
By car, drive to Cabo de Palos and enter the La Manga strip from the south. The best way to find Colina del Emperador is by entering the name of the hotel directly into Google Maps and following the directions from here (in-car SatNavs don’t always get it right).
Staff will also be happy to arrange a pick-up service for you but this needs to be arranged in advance.
