Parque de las Penas Huertanas, Los Alcazares

Parque de las Penas Huertanas, Los Alcazares

This is a park area and open air auditorium at the bottom of the rambla in Los Alcázares

The Parque de las Peñas Huertanas is an area used during the glorious Semana de la Huerta y el Mar which is held in Los Alcázares every summer, which has at its centre the celebration of all things folk.

The heart of the celebrations is the folk festival which draws in dancers from many nations and takes place in the open air auditorium.

The other core is the tapas gardens, selling a vast range of tapas prepared by the folk peñas in vast tapas gardens. There is also an artisan fair and recreation of a typical Murcian barraca or temporary home made from canes and mud, used by the agricultural families of the huertas , the agricultural areas which surrounded Murcia.

The parque itself is a pleasant area, located at the bottom end of the rambla just before it opens up into the sea, and is a concreted area in which all of the above are located.
