Spain Easter weekend weather Apr 2-5: Settled and warm in most parts
A slightly breezy start gives way to wall-to-wall sunshine for most of Spain this Easter weekend
Average temperatures expected this Saturday April 4
After
a pretty unsettled start to Holy Week, high pressure is set to take hold across most of Spain from Friday onwards, bringing what looks like a largely warm and sunny Easter for the majority of the country.
Thursday April 2
The first day of the Easter weekend is the most unsettled of the four, with northerly winds pushing cloud across parts of the country. The north will see the worst of it, with cloudy or overcast skies over the Cantabrian Mountains and the Pyrenees, where some persistent rain is likely through the day. La Rioja and northern Burgos may also catch some light showers, and the Balearic Islands could see a few showers in the early hours.
The rest of the country should enjoy partly cloudy or clear skies.
Temperatures will rise in the Balearics, the northeast and the far south, but dip in Galicia, Navarre, Aragon, Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha. Wind warnings are in place for Aragon, Catalonia, the
Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands.
Friday April 3
A much more promising picture as high pressure begins to build in from the Atlantic. Most of the country will wake up to clear or sunny skies, with any remaining cloud and light rain confined to the eastern Cantabrian coast and the northern Pyrenees during the morning before easing off.
By midday, even those areas should be looking at largely clear conditions.
Temperatures will drop slightly in the far south but rise elsewhere, particularly in mountainous areas of the northern half. Wind warnings remain for the Balearic Islands and Catalonia.
Saturday April 4
With high pressure now firmly in charge, Saturday looks like the pick of the weekend for most of the country. Expect clear skies or just a few high clouds across the board, with sea breezes along the Mediterranean coast keeping things comfortable.
Some morning mist or fog is possible in parts of the Basque Country and northern Burgos, but that should clear quickly.
Temperatures will rise across most of Spain, with the biggest gains in the far north, the Ebro Valley and the inland mountain areas.
Sunday April 5
More of the same on Easter Sunday, with high pressure keeping things settled from coast to coast. Skies will be mostly clear and sunny, with morning mist possible along the Galician and Cantabrian coasts.
Temperatures will continue to rise in central and eastern Spain and the Balearics, while the far north sees a slight dip. Overnight temperatures will be milder almost everywhere, although the highest Pyrenean peaks will still see frost. Winds will be light and variable across most of the country.
