The village and outlying district of Puntas de Calnegre in the municipality of Lorca
A tiny coastal village with popular beaches and restaurants on the coast of Lorca
Puntas de Calnegre is a tiny village with only around 60 residents on the coast of the vast municipality of Lorca, but during the summer it is a very popular destination among both bathers, walkers and diners who enjoy the beachfront restaurants.
It is also one of the 39 “diputaciones” of Lorca, which is sub-divided in this way due to its sheer size: covering and area of 1,675 square kilometres, it is the second largest municipality in Spain.
The district falls within the Puntas de Calnegre – Cabo Cope protected area on account of the exceptional coastal landscape and contains all of the 11 kilometres of coastline in Lorca as well as the fascinating countryside which is farmed near Ramonete and Garrobillo but is wild in the mountains between Calnegre and Águilas.
In and around Puntas de Calnegre the Town Hall of Lorca has included three walking and mountain biking routes in its “Los Caminos del Sol” program:
- A 12.2-kilometre walking route in the El Ciscar area
- A 42-kilometre mountain bike route
- An easy 6.7-kilometre walk along the coast towards Percheles, perfect for a family day out.
