Health, beauty and relaxation destinations in the Region of Murcia
Look after yourself by letting the Region of Murcia look after you!
There are, of course, many reasons for visiting the Region of Murcia but as well as the climate, the beaches, the golf courses, the countryside, the mountains, the water sports, the gastronomy, the historical and cultural heritage, one of the best options is to take advantage of an opportunity to disconnect from the stress of everyday life and treat yourself to a little health and beauty therapy.
Murcia offers plenty of opportunities to visit thermal spas, thalassotherapy centres and other anti-stress facilities, where you can enjoy the TLC you deserve!
Among the spa centres you can choose from the regional tourist board recommends three:
● The Balneario de Archena is located in a real green oasis in the heart of one of the most attractive areas of the Region of Murcia, the Ricote valley. The mineral and medicinal properties of the natural thermal spring in Archena have helped to make this one of the most historic and enduringly popular resorts of its kind in the whole of Spain, attracting visitors including the wealthy and famous from all parts of the country. The establishment also has great appeal for visitors from outside Spain, who swear by the therapeutic effect of the numerous treatments and the relaxed, genteel ambience.
● The Balneario de Leana in Fortuna is also among the oldest still in use in Spain, dating back to Roman times although the properties of the warm natural spring water were known by the Iberian tribes and the Greeks even before then. One of the most popular features here is the Roman spa circuit, with hydromassage pools, a bubble volcano, aromatic showers and a sensorial steam room.
● The Balneario Bahía de los Delfines on the coast between Isla Plana and Puerto de Mazarrón is a great place to enjoy the feeling of near weightlessness due to the high mineral content of the water. Alongside is a wide range of relaxation and anti-stress treatments.
Other coastal locations offering similar treatments and services in the Costa Cálida include the following establishments:
● The Hotel Puerto Juan Montiel Spa y Base Náutica in Águilas is right on the shoreline, offering spectacular views out over the Mediterranean and the marina of the Puerto Deportivo Juan Montiel. The spa occupies an area of 1,000 square metres in which to be kind to your mind and body alike.
● The Hotel Thalasia Costa de Murcia next to the regional park of the Salt Flats and Dunes of San Pedro del Pinatar is a modern thalassotherapy centre with a 5,000-sqaure-metre marine spa.
● The Hotel Entremares on the front line in La Manga del Mar Menor also boasts a noteworthy spa centre, including pools with jets of water, a steam bath and a relaxation and sauna area.
● The Hotel Lodomar in San Pedro del Pinatar offers a spa and sauna centre with a Turkish bath, saltwater pools and a wide range of massage and body wrap treatments.
● The Aguas Salinas tourist apartments in Lo Pagán also offer body wraps with a variety of aromas including chocolate, cherry, wine, pomegranate, seaweed and the famed therapeutic marine mud of the area, all of them applied on hot water beds.
Other 5-star relaxation destinations include:
● Caleia Mar Menor Golf y Spa Resort in Torre Pacheco, a great place to de-stress. The spa is a veritable Paradise of revitalizing pools, saunas, steam rooms, lifestyle showers, jacuzzis and a heated swimming pool, and there is also a private spa for couple. All of this is presented in a relaxing, Oriental-themed atmosphere where you can choose among facial and body beauty treatments based on the most innovative techniques such as Ayurvedic massage therapy and aromatherapy.
● At the Hotel Double Tree by Hilton La Torre Golf & Spa Resort, also in Torre Pacheco, you will wish time could stand still so that you can chill out and relax forever. The thermal circuit includes a 24-metre heated pool, dry heated sauna, multi-sensation showers and a relaxation area, and other facial and body treatments use natural ingredients which blend perfectly with modern techniques.
