Michelin starred and Bib Gourmand recommended restaurants in the Region of Murcia
Fine dining from the cities of Murcia and Cartagena to the shore of the Mar Menor and the Altiplano in the north
The Michelin Guide is the most highly regarded and longest-lived restaurant and hotel guide in Europe, and every year it includes its selection of the finest and most prestigious restaurants in the Old Continent.
In the Region of Murcia we are fortunate to be able to visit various of those included in a publication which first appeared in 1900 and whose “Michelin stars” have come to be one of the most highly prized accolades for restaurants from Portugal to the far west of Europe. The Originally designed as an incentive to stimulate purchases of the tyre brand, it included the Recommended Hotels and Restaurants section in 1923, since when restaurants not actually inside hotels have been added to the list.
Apart from the Michelin stars, and additional, slightly more modern section is the “Bib Gourmand”, which lists high-class eateries which offer menus at under 35 euros in most nations.
Below are the nine Murcia restaurants included in the 2026 guide:
2 Michelin stars
Restaurante La Cabaña, El Palmar (southern outskirts of Murcia)
For fans of haute cuisine, this is a must on any gastronomic tour of the Region of Murcia. Head of the kitchen is Pablo González, who has richly deserved his two Michelin stars. At present the restaurant offers two tasting menus, allowing you to enjoy a range of dishes which combine to make a fantastic dining experience.
Bookings are through the restaurants’ website, restaurantelacabana.com.
1 Michelin star
Frases, in the centre of the city of Murcia
The cooking at Frases is based on the traditional dishes of the Region of Murcia, but is reinterpreted in contemporary fashion with a creative and personal touch. The menu shows respect for the well-known dishes from the area but are finished with a fine blend of the past and the present, using local products and landscapes as their inspiration.

Located just 50 metres from the River Segura, this is the personal project of Murcia chef Juan Guillamón, who combines the very latest techniques with tradition in the recipes produced from the kitchen.
The dishes exude both creativity and wonderful tastes in an establishment which originally opened in 2019 under the name of Alma Mater, and the Michelon star was awarded just 3 years later. This is one of the favourite restaurants among gastronomes from both the Region of Murcia and elsewhere in Spain.

Barahonda in the countryside of Yecla
The restaurant of the Barahonda winery is under 10 minutes’ drive from the centre of Yecla and has placed the north of the Region of Murcia firmly on the country’s gastronomic map through its outstanding combination of local produce from the land of the Altiplano and the creativity with which it is prepared.
Here, modern culinary techniques are used to enhance the dishes and to pay tribute to the countryside and the most iconic wineries of the area.
The Michelin star was awarded in 2026, converting Barahonda into an ambassador for the gastronomy of inland Murcia as well as a source of fine wines.
