October 5 Swan Lake ballet in Aguilas
The Kiev Ballet perform at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena in Águilas
Two years ago, shortly after the conflict between Russia and Ukraine broke out, the Kiev Ballet embarked on its first tour of Spain, and following the huge success of that visit they are returning in 2024 to raise more funds for the emergency work being carried out by UNICEF in their home country.
On this occasion the ballet chosen is Swan Lake, with score by Tchaikovsky and choreography by Marius Petipa. It was this version which rescued the music from relative obscurity in Saint Petersburg 1895, after the initial performances in 1877 were a flop among the theatregoers of Moscow.
The main protagonists of the ballet are the characters of Prince Siegfried, Odette, who has been transformed into a swan by the spell of the evil Von Rothbart, and Odile, the black swan.
The performance on Wednesday October 5 begins at 20.30. Tickets are priced at 32 euros including a donation of 1 euro to UNICEF and are available online here or in person from the Museo Arqueológico and the Casa de la Cultura. Any remaining tickets will be on sale at the auditorium box office in the two hours before the performance starts.
